Trying to change an older visio flowchart drawing we found that if any changes were made e.g. deleting, moving, adding or changing objects, then everything on the page disappeared and we were left with a blank page, not even guidelines.  Thought this might be to do with layers but no changes to them made any difference.  Saving the drawing to another file did not help. With everything blank and saving the file it had roughly the same size suggesting the objects were there somewhere, just not visible

In the end we found that saving the drawing as as Visio 2002 drawing, closing the file and then re-opening it was the only way to make the file editable again.

Is this a cross-functional flowchart?
What version of Visio are you trying to edit it in?
Does it ask you if you want to upgrade the diagram to the latest format?

Basic, fairly simple flowchart (not sure what cross functional is), Visio 2010 and no it didn't ask.

In that case it wasn't a cross-function chart.
Do a Control-A to select all, then zoom out to see where the shapes are.
I'll take a look for you if you like, full commercial confidence.
