I'm using Visio 2003 Standard and using the draw line tool.

When I draw a line and then I have to change direction, lets say up. When I stop, the 2 lines are connected to form an elbow shape. How do I stop this? I want them to be 2 separate lines.

There are at least two ways...

The immediate answer is to deselect the line you just drew, i.e., just click somewhere in the page.  (Once deselected, Visio will not automatically join the next line.)  Then, begin your 2nd line as desired.

An alternative approach is duplicate the 1st line, rotate it. drag it to where desired and then stretch/shrink as necessary.  This works well if the 1st line had special formatting that you want to preserve.
