Title: How to Synchronize page numbers between different files?
Post by: jesskendrick on March 30, 2009, 07:28:23 AM
Hi Guys,

I would like to know how to synchronize page numbers between different files. I have this one big visio file used for MOPs and I needed to make another file for rack layouts to minimize the file size. My problem is everytime i add a new page on the MOP, I have to adjust again the page numbers on my rack-layout files.

regards,
jess

Hi Jess,

There's no "reference-ish" way to do this. Visio files can't do external references the way Excel can (Excel *can* if I remember right...?)

Ideas that come to mind:

1. A little bit of VBA code (or VB.NET or C# or ...) could help automate the process for you
2. Perhaps there's a way to paste link a page from one Visio file into another
I haven't tried this in a while and can't remember off hand.

Thanks for the advice. MOP stands for Method of Procedure, it's a documentation thing.  ;D
