Hi all

I am not sure what I am missing here.
I am trying to use this

http://office.microsoft.com/en-ca/visio-help/insert-ascii-or-unicode-latin-based-symbols-and-characters-HA010167539.aspx

According with the above article  2206+ALT+X should type ∆
It is not happening. Does anybody know why?

thank
PF

Which version of Visio?
I can't try the ALT method at the moment as I'm on my laptop (no numeric keyboard).

I have Visio 2010 here, unicode works fine using other methods. If that is Greek delta then that works just fine.

Hi Paul

Copy and paste or other methods are not what I want
I need to have the Alt-X method working
Is that what you used?

thanks
PF

PS: what I noticed is that when I press Alt the ribbon shortcuts are being displayed.
I think that this might interfere with the keystroke

Also please note that Alt+2 digits works fine but there is characters who have hex codes containing letters...there you need the Alt+X method (type the code followed by key Alt and key X)

I couldn't get the ###+ALT+X to work in Visio, either; where ### is some number.  But I took a guess that 2206 was a hex number which converts to 8710 decimal.  So, ALT+8710 did give me an uppercase delta.  Not sure how well it maps for other characters, but it did work for this one.  Am using V2007, but don't expect any issues.

No, I'm on my laptop, no numeric keypad, I never use Alt codes, I always use my own program for that sort of thing, Diacrit.
