OK. I'm trying to do something that should be stupidly simple but I'll be hanged if I can make it work. All I want to do is modify the small Title Block master shape included with Visio 2010. Here's what I did - no joy.
1. copy the Small Title Block master shape to my own Favorites stencil
2. R-Click the shape, select Edit Master->Edit Master Shape. The shape opens up in a new window with the Master Explorer open too.
3. In the Master Explorer window, drill down to Masters->Title Block Small->Shapes->Sheet.24->Shapes->Sheet.26
4. Now the box in the upper left of the Title Block is selected. All I want to do is delete this shape from the Title block.
5. Select sheet.26 and r-click, select Delete Shape. Get the darned "shape protection, container, and/or layer properties prevent complete execution of this command".
6. Checked shape sheet for the title block group and the small box I want to delete. Found LockDelete box and set the 1 to 0. All other values in the Protection group are "0".
What the heck am I doing wrong? If someone has step by step instructions that lead to success, that would be great. Been all over the net and none of the offered solutions work. >:(
Can you upload the shape?
Right-click sheet.26, open shapesheet and in the shape protection section set delete protection to 0. Now for sheet.24, open shapesheet and set Protection -> Group to 0. Now you can delete sheet.26
(This is the shape Title block small in stencil More Shapes -> Visio extras -> Title blocks)
I discussed this a bit in a recent article as well:
