I am having a problem using hyperlinks with bookmarks in 2007.  I use the #"bookmark_name"  after the file name, but when executed it only takes me to the top of the page.  I am not using visio web pages.. i am in visio full screen view.

when you insert the hyperlink, I think the bookmark goes into the subaddress field.

I was just trying this and seems to work ok for me.  Following Al's advice I tried both adding the entire url to the address field and separating the bookmark into the sub-address field.  My test of the following works ok in both cases (using 2010):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics#History

If you do add the bookmark separately then you don't include the hash (#) symbol as Visio adds this itself.  This applies to both the hyperlink dialog and the ShapeSheet.  If you do you'll end up with two hash symbols and then the bookmark won't work.

Does that work for you or do you have another url that repro's the problem?

I have tried putting the bookmark in the sub-address field.. I get the message that you can only bookmark within visio.

can anyone having 2007 try this?  I think it is problem with that version..

thanks... linking to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mathematics#History
works!  Yes, however I still have the problem going to pdfs.. it is related to some security issue..  I get a message when opening MS files related to "trustworthy" sites.

Thank you.

Ray,

I would be surprised if the it was the Visio version that's giving the problem (although I have tested it in 2007 and that works fine using the wiki link below).

So does the wiki link work properly for you?

If it does can you share the link that's giving you the problem (or another one that displays the same issue) + give details on what browser (and version) you're trying this in.

Best regards

John

PS - The 'only within Visio' warning message is just in response to clicking the sub-address browse button - you can still edit the text in the sub-address textbox.

Sorry, I think I missed your last message.  The interpretation of a url is really up to the receiving application - for example IE or Adobe Reader.  For PDF's have a look at this link (see the Deep Linking section):

http://blogs.adobe.com/pdfdevjunkie/web_designers_guide

...and here's a PDF with a named destination to test (works from Visio):

http://pdfdevjunkie.host.adobe.com/pdf/pdf_open_parameters_v9.pdf#Parameters

Hope that helps.
