Title: Link Data to Shapes
Post by: jik_ff on December 05, 2011, 09:30:38 PM
I'm a bit new to actually using Visio's more advance features, so in a nutshell what I was trying to do was link my Visio(2007) shape data to Access(2007) or at least a CSV file.  Looking this up pointed me towards clicking Data on the menu and selecting Link Data to Shapes.  Well, it's not there for me.  I do see Shape Data..., Insert Data Solutions, and Reports...

I even have it runing in Developer mode (for other features, but I tried turning it off/on.  Neither helped).

Am I missing something?  There is not other instructions (that I could find) that talk about Link Data to Shapes.  I do have those specific shapes on a seperate layer, but I don't think that should be a problem, should it?

Thanks in advance.

Visio Professional only, not in Standard.

Sucks to be me....

So I would need visio Professional to tie my visio file to Access.  I've already exported to Access, but I would prefer to be able to manipulate the data from either software.

The alternative is to write custom code (something like this)
