Can I turn any font into an outline?

Is there any way to turn the letters a string of text in some font into just the outline of the letters. Ideally, it would by like a shape that I could edit (change the line color, fill color, etc.).

I realize that I can change the transparency, but I really want just an outline.

It would be really cool if I could hover over it and get the line segments to reveal themselves so I could distort it in various ways.

You need a font editor to be able to do this. There are many free ones. Google for free font editor.

No, sorry. It's not a tool that I would need. I'd be quite happy with two fonts, one serif and one non-serif, but I could exist quite well with only of them!

On a lighter note, while searching for a specialty font (I could never live with less than a million), I came across a serif font that looked like swiss cheese, but the holes were all in the serifs. Can you guess the name of the font?

As a result of your suggestion, I discovered that I can use the Wordart feature in Word to convert text to outlines. It's a little tedious, but it works.

JuneTheSecond's comment was about staying within Visio. He developed a nice "app" that brings the WordArt functionality into Visio.

It looks like we don't have many quiz show addicts here. The name of the font is "I shot the serif".
