Title: Shapes - can they be swapped?
Post by: Meghan on November 04, 2009, 05:42:33 PM
I have created a shape that I have used on multiple pages (instances). I would like to edit the shape or swap it out for a new shape and have that change reflected in all of the instances in which the shape has been used.
Is this possible?
Thanks,
Meghan

Would you care to try out my http://www.sandrila.co.uk/visio-utilities/ (http://www.sandrila.co.uk/visio-utilities/?id=117) which can do shape substitution.

If you mean multiple pages of one drawing (= one file) you could make changes to the Master-Shape in the Document-Stencil, but that won't work if you are talking about different drawings, when you mean instances.
Although this will only work with changes to the Master-Shape, not with exchanging it with another Shape.

You need to check out Paul Herber's utilities.  They're smarter than the average bear.
