Title: new shape names persist
Post by: Untershine on April 10, 2009, 08:48:15 PM
When I change a shape name using format->special (or using the document explorer), the new name will always be assigned to that shape even if I change it to another name. Referencing the renamed shape's ID in a formula (ie sheet.xx) will retrieve the first name that the shape was assigned.

Is there a collection of properties that Visio updates that locks that shape's new name? If so, there must be a way to change it.

Hi,

Do you mean universal name by name?
Visio has 2 kinds of names, Name and NameU.
They are explained at Visio Insite,

But if you don't mean that, I am sorry this is not right answer for you.
