What I wanted to do:   
on the left side have a 3-4 folders when you click on them to grow the list. Then on the right side I have image (building plan), there will be some elements of the plan containing detailed data for example [(No, socket, socket II, peace etc) shape/custom properties]. First Folder name Socket and the second Socket II and now by clicking on an item in the catalog, I would like the element on the plan to be selected or in some other way have a lighting effect. Trying to do something like this but I do not know it is possibile and i don't know how, newbie in Visio, thanks for help

Something like a template...on the chart left..have your "folder" stuff...on the right, the map/topology.

with shape bonded to folder, can influence one with the other.

Just a thought/first glance
