Pulling a Shape ID from a Shape

Hey everyone,

I was curious to if there was a way to pull a Shape ID from within a Shape's text? My company often creates an ID for each shape as the first thing typed in the shape. The format is always something like this: #.##.## and then it goes into the rest of the text needed in that shape. All I need is to pull the #.##.## into a shape data field so I can reference it. So far, the closest I have got is using the SHAPETEXT(TheText) formula, but it obviously pulls the whole shape's text into this shape data field.

Is there another formula or combination of formulas that may work better for this?
