Unable to glue to shape geometry

Greetings, I was just upgraded to Visio 2013 this week and I seem to have lost the ability to manually place connections onto a shapes geometry.

I verified that I had the option seleted in the Snap & Glue section and the line does snap/glue itself to the shape directly. But it only every glues it to where it wants the line to be. I have a vast network drawing with tons of line going everywhere. I need the percision to manually adjust where the lines are going and where on the shape they hit. Is there any way to get this functionality back?

I want to avoid using connection points if possible.

I think this was a bug in 2013 that's now been fixed.  From the KB (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2975855):

Fixes the following issue:

When you select the Shape geometry option in the Snap & Glue dialog box in Visio 2013, you cannot use a connector to glue to any point of a shape geometry except the connection points.
