How to collapse or expand a connector?

 I have mind mapping software that allows me to expand or collapse my connectors. So the connectors have a little plus or - and you click on it and the tree below it either collapses or expands. It seems like such basic functionality but I can't find this in Visio 2010. is a really missing? If not, how can I collapse my connectors so there is more room on my screen for diagrams?
