Does Visio have temp files similar to Word's .wbk files that can be used to recover work after a crash? I couldn't find anything in documents & Settings.

Thanks

Hi YossiD,

I have, for example a file called: "Gooey Buttons.vsd" (nice name, eh?)

When I open it, I see in Explorer, right next to the original file, another one called: "~$$Gooey Buttons.~vsd". I assume this is some sort of temporary file used in recovery. I'm not sure how easy it is to recover form it. You have to have your Explorer set to show hidden files to see this "~" file.

When Visio crashes and you re-open it, you will get a "Recovered" drawing, but not in every circumstance. I haven't totally figured out why it happens sometimes and not others. I suspect it has something to do with having multiple Visio instances open at the same time, or having multiple drawings open, but I'm just not sure.
